COLERAIN – Gurney Everett Jernigan, 63, of 734 Elm Grove Road, Colerain, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at his home.

He was born in Bertie County on January 28, 1948 to the late Gurney P. and Magnolia White Jernigan. Everett was a member of Elm Grove Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.  He was a member of the Leary and the Glade Gun Clubs.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Elm Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. J. N. Baggett and the Rev. Preston Jernigan.  Burial followed in Edgewood Cemetery, Windsor.

Survivors include his wife, Gail J. Jernigan of the home; daughters, Angie J. Todd and husband, David, of Colerain, and Chrystal J. Castelloe and husband, Shelby, of Windsor; son, Rev. Preston E. Jernigan and wife, Lynette, of Colerain; sisters, Janice Jernigan and Marie Mizelle, both of Colerain; and grandchildren, Meredith Jernigan, Abbi Castelloe, Zack Castelloe, Lindsey Todd and John Everett Todd.

The family will receive friends from their home on Elm Grove Road.  Memorial gifts may be made to Elm Grove Baptist Church, 638 Elm Grove Road, Colerain, NC 27924.
