WOODLAND – In one week, the population of this small Northampton County town will more than double in size.

The popularity of one of the area’s oldest continuing events is evident annually at the Woodland Volunteer Fire Department’s Shrimp Feast. For the 26th consecutive year, the Woodland firemen, joined by a small army of volunteers, will stage their annual event, one that includes all the fresh, steamed shrimp, fresh from the North Carolina coast, that you can eat. Locally grown corn on the cob as well as your favorite cold beverages will complete the meal.

The event is set for Saturday, June 16 at the fire department’s Shrimp Feast grounds, located just off US 258 (Main Street). Gates open at 5 p.m.  Serving starts at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m.  No take-out plates will be available.

A variety of music will be served up by DJ Jay Jenkins to include Beach, Country and Pop.

Tickets are $25 each and must be purchased in advance.  No tickets will be available at the gate.  Contact any Woodland fireman for tickets.
