AHOSKIE – Maggie Louise Keel Davenport, age 97 of the 100 Block of Mt. Tabor Church Road, Ahoskie, died Monday, June 13, 2011 at Roanoke Chowan Hospital.

She was born February 17, 1914 in Edgecombe County to the late James Daniel Keel and Mattie Watson Keel. She was the wife of the late LeRoy Davenport, Sr.

She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and was the Owner-Operator of Davenport Produce.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2011 at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home in Ahoskie. Rev. Wint Hale will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: a daughter, Daisy Warren of Ahoskie; and sons, LeRoy Davenport, Jr. and Stephen Davenport of Knotts Island; twelve grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Mary Estelle Davenport, and three brothers Daniel  Keel, Elijah Keel and Joe Henry Keel.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Garrett-Jones Funeral Home in Ahoskie.
