JACKSON – A North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation inquiry has led to the arrest of the former Woodland Town Clerk.

Virginia Gail Crowder Colson of Conway surrendered to the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office Thursday after two orders for arrest were issued.

That follows two true bills of incitement being drawn for 29 counts of embezzlement by a public officer/trustee.

Colson was placed under a $35,000 secured bond which was posted. Her first court appearance will be June 13 in Northampton County Superior Court.
