ARDEN, NC – Ina Perry Harrell, 80, of Arden, died Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Laurels Of Greentree Ridge.

A native of Gates County, she was the daughter of the late Willie Lee and Willa Maris Tinkham Perry. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Brooks Harrell Jr., who passed away in 2009, and one brother, Willie Lee Perry, who died in 1930.

She retired from Mission-St. Joseph Hospital as a registered nurse. She went to the Norfolk General Hospital School of Nursing and was selected “Who’s Who List” for nursing in 1990-91. Ina was a star in the movie “My Fellow American.” She was a member of Arden First Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Brooks Lee Harrell and his wife, Wendy, and David Austin Harrell and his wife, Nannette, all of Arden; as well as one brother, John Willard Perry of Ahoskie; and five grandchildren, Dr. Jessica Harrell, Benjamin Harrell and his wife, Kristen, Keith Harrell, Katie Harrell and Michael Tanguay.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Arden First Baptist Church with the Reverends Jeffrey Hudson and Scott Lynch officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hendersonville.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian and at other times will be at the residence.
