Philip Ray Coggin Sr.

AHOSKIE – Philip Ray Coggin Sr., age 79, of the 500 block of Lakeview Drive, Ahoskie, died Friday, May 13, 2011 at his home.

Mr. Coggin was born on November 21, 1931, in Halifax County, a son of the late Lee Oliver and Emma Lou McGregor Coggin.  He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Ahoskie and was owner of Phil Coggin Insurance Agency, Inc. in Ahoskie.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Alice Jeans Coggin of the home; his daughters, Wanda C. Woodford and husband, Bill, of Liberty, NC, and Sharon C. Cox of Greensboro, NC; his son, Philip Ray Coggin, Jr. of Liberty, NC; three grandchildren, Brandy Woodford, Daniel Cox and Ally Coggin; and two great grandchildren, Carmen and Mitchell Hedrick.

Besides his parents, Phil was predeceased by three brothers, Ben, Ezell, and Leamon Coggin.

A celebration of life service will be conducted at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home in Ahoskie at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2011 with the Rev. Dr. Jesse J. Croom officiating.  Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery in Nashville, NC, at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.

The family will receive friends at the home.
