JACKSON—Northampton County Schools is studying ways on how to save energy.

On Monday evening, Assistant Superintendent Phil Matthews briefed the Northampton County Board of Education on the administration studying the possibility of having an energy conservation program.

“The administration is currently exploring companies that will partner with Northampton County Schools in offering an energy conservation program,” he said. “The desired energy conservation program would focus on management of energy rather than requiring high dollar up front cost associated with installing newer energy efficient equipment.”

Matthews noted with a management program, energy conservation would be accomplished through education of people through habits and policy.

He concluded this was before the board for information only.
