COLERAIN – Roy Elvin Lafferty, Jr., 72, died Saturday, April 16, 2010 in Bertie County.

He was born on September 30, 1938 in Allegheny County, Maryland to the late Roy E. and Myrtle Lafferty, Sr.  He was joined in death by his wife, Barbara Alston White Lafferty, and mother-in-law, Helen White, due to a tornado.

Roy was a member of Colerain Baptist Church; a Mason and Shriner; and honorably served his country with the US Marines.

He and his wife, Barbara, were the owners and operators of R&B Farms. He retired from Sprint after 35 years as an PBX Installer.

He is survived by his three sons, Danny Lafferty and wife, Kim, of Conway, Bryan Lafferty and wife, Connie, of Nashville and Kevin Lafferty and fiancé, Tammy, of Nashville; one stepson, Jonathan Keith White and wife, Christy, of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Scott, Shelly, Casey, Christy, Jessica, Erica, Jasper and Jessica; three step grandchildren, Tanner, Logan, and Alston; and six great-grandchildren, Carter, Kennedy, Hayes, Layla, Gavin and Jayden.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Colerain Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Roberts, the Rev. Nathan Parrish and the Rev. Avery Varnadore officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 22 at Walker Funeral Home in Windsor.
