Falcons fall to PCHS

WINDSOR – Pasquotank County High School earned a Northeastern Coastal Conference win here Friday.

The Panthers defeated Bertie High School 19-1 in the conference baseball outing.

Pasquotank started the scoring with two runs in the top of the first and then added five runs in the second inning.

The Panthers broke the game open with six runs in the third as they took a 13-0 lead.

Bertie’s lone run came in the bottom of the third.

Javier Pagola had a bunt single and went to second on a wild pitch. After Allen Speller walked, he and Pagola got caught in a rundown on a wild pitch. Speller was tagged out, but Pagola scored on an interference calls to close the gap to 13-1.

The Panthers scored five runs in the top of the fourth frame.

In the bottom of the fourth, Joseph Eure singled to left and went to second on a wild pitch. Justin Byrum walked. Ryan Chamblee grounded into a fielder’s choice and then a strikeout ended the inning.

PCHS added one more run in the top of the fifth.

Devonte Holley singled to left to open the bottom of the fifth frame. He went to second on an error and advanced to third on a wild pickoff throw. A double play, however, ended the game.

Bertie had two hits – one each by Pagola and Eure.

The Falcons dropped to 0-9 in league play.
