Raiders hold off Northeast

BELHAVEN – Pungo Christian Academy jumped out to an early lead and held off a large surge from Northeast Academy here last week.
The Lady Raiders scored nine runs in the bottom of the first frame, but Northeast did not go away. PCA won the contest 27-17.
The Eagles scored six in the second, three in the third, one in the fourth and seven in the fifth to close the gap before falling.
Nicole Burke was perfect at the plate for the Lady Eagles, going 3-for-3 with two triples and five RBIs on the afternoon. Morgan Galloway led the team with four hits in five at bats. She had four RBIs.
Ashlynn Bridgers was 3-for-5 for the Lady Eagles and added a pair of RBIs while Arielle Ricks was 1-for-1 with three walks Caitlin Foster checked in at 1-for-2 with a pair of walks.
Northeast will be back in action Thursday when they host Terra Ceia Christian School in another Tarheel Independent Conference contest.
