Carlette King Lewis

ROCKY MOUNT – Ms. Carlette King Lewis, age 40, of Rocky Mount died Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Nash General Hospital.

Born April 21, 1970 in Clinton, NC, she was the daughter of Carl Emerson “C. E.” and Paulette Robinson King of Clinton.

Carlette was a 1988 graduate of Clinton High School; a 1992 graduate of Campbell University, and worked as a Revenue Officer for the North Carolina Department of Revenue. She was previously employed as a Social Worker with the Hertford County Department of Social Services at which time she resided in Ahoskie.

She loved all outdoor activities, especially hiking the Appalachian Trail, kayaking, photography, and sharing these experiences with her daughter.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughter, Kaitlyn Grace Lewis of the home; Kaitlyn’s father, Kevin N. Lewis of Rocky Mount; her brother, Michael Evan King and his wife, Jennifer, of Faison; her niece, Zaylea King of Faison; her nephew, Brody King of Faison; and numerous friends.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 North Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 in the Mausoleum Chapel at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Entombment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Harrison Family YMCA, 1000 Independence Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
