Falcons fall in league opener

KILL DEVIL HILLS – Bertie suffered a loss to open conference play here Tuesday night.

Despite pitcher Joseph Eure giving up just a single earned run, the Falcons fell to First Flight High School 15-0.

Eure tossed one inning and allowed one run while Adam Cowand pitched a pair of innings and Javier Pagola pitched one inning.

Matthew Hoggard went 1-for-2 for the Falcons.

“We played hard, but we have to make the routine plays,” Bertie Head Coach Randy Whitaker said.

The loss dropped the Falcons to 1-6 overall and 0-1 in the Northeastern Coastal Conference.
