ASKEWVILLE – Annie Pearl Phelps White, 81, of 139 W. Askewville Street, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

She was born on June 9, 1929 to the late Raleigh Grant and Ethel Pearl Hughes Phelps and was predeceased by a son, Dancy “Dan” Gilbert White Jr.; two sisters, Alma Grey Johnson and Garnette Williford; and two brothers, Raleigh Graham and Brinkley Phelps.

Mrs. White was a homemaker and member of Askewville Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Askewville Baptist Church by the Rev. Freddie Harris.  Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Dancy Gilbert White; daughters, Revonne White Hoggard, Julie White Mizelle and Viola “Vi” White, all of Askewville; sisters, Audrey Riddick of Ahoskie and Miriam White of Chesapeake, VA; and grandchildren, Bobby Hoggard, Daniel Mizelle, David Mizelle, Scott White, Lori White and Amy White.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2011 at Walker Funeral Home and at other times from the home.
