Violet H. Martin

CONWAY – Violet Hundley Martin, 82, died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at her home in Conway.

She had been preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, F. Ennis Martin; and parents, Robert Saffold Hundley and Ruth Britton Hundley.

A native of Conway, she attended Mary Washington College and Meredith College before marrying.  She became a homemaker and loving mother to her daughters and, also, worked until retirement as an Administrative Assistant at Odom Correctional System. While employed she served a year as Secretary to the State Employees Association of North Carolina.  She was a member of Conway United Methodist Church where she taught the L. V. Harris Sunday School for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Martin of Conway and Francine Martin of Cary; and a granddaughter, Ruth Elaine Gibson of Morrisville.

The family will be receiving friends at Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc. fro, 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9 and at other times at the family home.

A funeral service for Mrs. Martin will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011 in Conway United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Butson and the Rev. Robert Hill presiding.  Burial will follow in the Town of Conway Cemetery.
