Riverside tops BHS

WINDSOR – Bertie High School suffered a 15-0 setback at the hands of Riverside High School here Monday.

Adam Cowand tossed three and one-third innings and allowed four earned runs in his first varsity start.

Riverside plated two in the second inning, two in the third and nine in the fourth frame. They added two in the top of the fifth inning.

Cowand led the Falcons at the plate with a  1-for-2 performance.

“The kids played hard,” Bertie skipper Randy Whitaker said. “We have to cut down on mistakes and quit giving teams extra outs.”

The Falcons dropped to 0-4 with the loss while Riverside stayed unbeaten at 4-0. Bertie will be on the road Friday when they travel to Plymouth. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
