Bertie High School suffered a pair of baseball defeats earlier this week.

The Falcons dropped their season-opener Tuesday at Williamston 13-1 before dropping a 10-0 decision to SouthWest Edgecombe on Wednesday.

Tuesday, the Falcons recorded three hits with Joseph Eure going 2-for-2 with a pair of singles. He also scored the team’s lone run in the second inning.

Eure got things started with a single and then stole second. He took third when the throw to get him at second sailed into the outfield. Eure then scored on a passed ball.

Chris Mizelle added a double for the Falcons.

Eure pitched two innings and struck out five while giving up four earned runs. Adam Cowand and Javier Pagola pitched one inning each.

At SouthWest, the Falcons recorded a single hit, that coming off the bat of Matthew Hoggard.

David Brown suffered the loss on the mound, pitching all four innings.
