MURFREESBORO – Dorothy Byrd Stanton, age 86 of Murfreesboro, died Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Riverside Convalescent Center in Smithfield, VA.

She was born May 5, 1924 in Murfreesboro to the late Ruby Askew Byrd and Wiley E. Byrd. She was the wife of the late Dallas Mifflin Stanton, III.

She was a quality control inspector at Rollic Incorporated in Murfreesboro and was a member of Ashley’s Grove Baptist Church.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Ashley’s Grove Baptist Church. Rev. David Ross will officiate. Burial will follow at Ashley’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughters, Judy C. Avery and husband, Wayne, of Smithfield, VA; Brenda C. McKinzey and husband, Paul, of Richmond, VA; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia Liverman of Newport News, VA.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home in Ahoskie.
