SUNBURY – A 52-year-old Gates County man is facing multiple felonies following his arrest on child sex charges.

According to records obtained through the Chowan County Jail, John Garlow of Zion Road, Sunbury, was arrested Feb. 2. He was charged with felonious statutory rape, indecent liberties with a child and incest.

Chowan County Magistrate J.F. Bubela placed Garlow under a $150,000 secured bond and ordered a trial date of March 1 at the Gates County Courthouse.

Warrants for Garlow’s arrest were written on Jan. 18. There was no indication on the arrest report of when the alleged crimes took place.
