Northeast varsity sweeps TCCS

LASKER – Northeast Academy swept Terra Ceia Christian School here last week.

The varsity boys recorded a 41-34 overtime win against the Knights while the Lady Eagles knocked off TCCS 35-29.

The Northeast varsity boys took a 14-4 lead after one quarter, but Terra Ceia outscored the Eagles in the second, third and fourth quarters to tie the game.

Northeast led 20-12 at halftime and 26-23 after three quarters, but the Knights tied the game at 31-all by the end of the regular session.

In overtime, however, the Eagles were dominant as they outscored their visitors 10-3 to secure the victory.

James Pope paced Northeast with 16 points while Will Glover was also in double figures with 10. Davis Harrell added seven, Clay Robbins had five and Brad Johnson chipped in two points.

Derrick Chesson and Thaddeus Van Essendelft led Terra Ceia with 10 each.

Northeast also jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter of the girl’s contest as they grabbed a 15-1 edge by the end of the period.

Terra Ceia, as in the boy’s game, outscored Northeast in the final three quarters, but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Eagles held on for the victory.

Northeast led 22-11 at the intermission and 26-17 after three quarters.

Ivey Little led Northeast with eight points while Ashton Liverman chipped in six and Hannah Roye had five. Rounding out the scoring were Kaylen Rose (4), Taylor Morris (3), Taylor Cocke (3), Mollie Cocke (2) and Morgan Galloway (2).

Katie Jackson led Terra Ceia with seven points.
