Morrison Page Harrell

HENRICO – Mr. Morrison Page Harrell, age 76 of Henrico, NC, died Saturday, January 1, 2011 at his home.

Mr. Harrell was born September 4, 1934 in Bertie County, NC, the son of the late Willie Weaver Harrell and Era Belle Hall Harrell. He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Willie Belle Nichols, Myrell Tillery, Jenette Vick and Betty Scott; and a brother, James Harrell.

Mr. Harrell graduated from Aulander High School and immediately joined the US Army and served eleven and one half years.  Morrison received a Bronze Star metal for meritorious service while engaged in military operations against Viet Cong forces.  After retiring from the Army he joined the US Air Force and served for another nine years.  After retiring from the service he worked in Washington, DC until 2003 when he returned home to live with his sister at Lake Gaston.

Left to cherish his memory includes his sister, Carol Harrell Bland of Henrico; his brother, Reuben E. Harrell and his wife, Ellen, of Hertford, NC; twenty nieces and nephews, including a very special niece, Crystal Bland, who nursed him through his sickness; thirty- two great nieces and nephews, thirty-six great, great nieces and nephews and a host of family, friends and loved ones.  He will be remembered as a giving and loving man who always took time to give a kind word.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Massey Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids, NC.  Burial will follow with military honors at Crestview Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home on Friday, January 7 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society or to Millennium Pentecostal Holiness.
