WOODLAND – Mr. Henry Joseph Toomey, age 76, died at his home on Sunday, November 21, 2010.

Mr. Toomey was born in Troy, NY.  Mr. Toomey lived in an orphanage in New York until he was old enough to join the US Navy from which he retired as a first class petty officer.

Following retirement from the Navy he worked as an inventory specialist with retail sales.  Later he worked in the restaurant business in Norfolk, VA with Mrs. Rosita Guynn and later was married to her niece, Lely Padua, whom still resides in the Philippines.

While working in Norfolk, Mr. Toomey would go throughout the neighborhood delivering bread to the needy.

Following the sale of the restaurant business in Norfolk, he moved to Woodland along with Mrs. Guynn and helped out at the restaurant in Woodland.

Memorial services will be conducted at a later date in the Philippines.
