MURFREESBORO — High definition television has arrived here through Time Warner Cable.
At a recent meeting of the Murfreesboro Town Council, representatives from Time Warner Cable spoke about the transition to high definition (HD) television.
According to Time Warner Senior Marketing Director Heidi Hourigan, 75 channels were recently launched in HD reception.
“We notified our customers (by letter) about a month ago, just about the beginning of August,” she said.
Hourigan said by the end of the year 25 additional channels are expected to be converted to HD.
“We had complaints about people having to go to Ahoskie to get (HD) boxes,” said Councilman Bill Theodorakis.
Hourigan said when the notification letter was sent out it indicated that customers could go to Elizabeth City, but to make it more convenient customers could switch their boxes at the Ahoskie Chamber of Commerce. A number was also provided so customers could call and arrange a time for the new box to be dropped off.
“We have less than 500 boxes in town that need to be swapped out,” she said.
