WINTON – An alleged old crime has led to a recent arrest.

On Tuesday, Richard Donnell Warren, 76, of Murfreesboro was taken into custody by the Hertford County Sheriff’s Office for a series of alleged sexual crimes that occurred 20 years ago.

HCSO Detective Brian Pearce, who made the arrest following an investigation, charged Warren with four counts each of indecent liberties with a child and incest, as well as two counts each of 1st degree rape and 1st degree sexual offense.

All of the charges are felonies.

Warren, scheduled to make his first court appearance on Friday, was jailed under a $30,000 secured bond.

Hertford County Sheriff Juan Vaughan said a person came forward alleging the sexual crimes were committed against her 20 years ago.

“We investigated the complaint and an arrest was made,” Vaughan stated.
