GASTON – A trio of starters missing Monday didn’t hamper Northampton County High School – East in their volleyball match at KIPP Pride.
Despite missing starter Brittany Majette due to illness and juniors Brittany Bazemore and Marendy Cannon because of personal reasons, the Lady Rams defeated KIPP Pride in four sets.
In addition to those three losses, East lost sophomore Bianca Anderson to injury during the match.
Northampton-East still went on and claimed the victory by counts of 25-7, 25-10, 22-25 and 25-11.
Senior Patrice Williams shouldered much of the load as she recorded six kills and an ace for the Rams. Sophomore Bridget Lucas and freshman Amber Davis, both normally JV players, added five kills and two aces and three kills and two aces respectively.
Senior Brandi Keeter led the Rams’ serving attack with six aces and started things off with a 13-point run in the first game.
The JV Rams won 25-18 and 25-20 over KIPP Pride. Shakira Anderson recorded six kills and an ace during the outing while Atierra Jones had five aces.
