GASTON – Northampton-East dropped a tough match to county rival Northampton-West Thursday.

“We were not able to get into the regular flow,” East Head Coach David Hasty said. “The loss of our junior setter and captain, Marendy Cannon, was too much to overcome.”

Cannon was ill before the match began and tried to go anyway, but eventually was forced to give in to the sickness and bow out of the contest.

The results was a 25-17, 22-25, 25-17 and 25-23 victory for the Lady Hurricanes.

Senior Patrice Williams paced Northampton-East with four kills and three aces in the loss. Sophomore Bianca Anderson also added four kills.
