WINTON – George Hall Jr., 83, of Winton departed this life on Monday, September 6, 2010 at Guardian Care Nursing Home in Ahoskie.

He was born on March 1, 1927 to the late George Hall Sr. and Hattie James Hall in Hertford County, NC.

He retired from Newport News Shipyard as a Supervisor in Department X-19. He was former President of NAACP and a member of Meherrin Indian Tribe. He served in the United States Marines.

George leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Agnes Hall of the home; four sons, Calvin Keene (Mary) of Hampton, VA, George Hall III (Janice) of Concord, Ohio, Dwight Hall of Durham, NC and Warren Hall (Sharon) of Apex, NC; one daughter, Candy Fleetwood (Cecil) of Winton, NC; one sister, Audrey Gatling of Carson, CA; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church with the burial to follow in the Hall Family Cemetery.
