Lloyd Peele, Jr.

AHOSKIE – Mr. Lloyd Thomas “Sonny” Peele, Jr., age 84, died at the Roanoke Chowan Hospital on Saturday, September 4, 2010.

Mr. Peele was born in Bertie County; however he made his home in Ahoskie.  He was married to Alma Outlaw in 1947 and to this marriage was born three children.

He was a member of the Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church in Aulander.

In early years Mr. Peele owned and operated Peele Plumbing and later became a long distance truck driver which he did for many years until retirement.  He enjoyed wood working and many referred to him as Mr. Fix It.

Preceding him in death are his mother and father, Evelyn Cook Peele and Lloyd Thomas Peele, Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Alma Outlaw Peele of the home; two daughters, Evelyn P. Smith and her husband, Lee, of Harrisburg, NC and Terri P. White and her husband, Stewart, of Rock Hill, SC; one son, Bennett Peele and his wife, Jeanette, of Conway, NC; one sister, Jerri Wilkins and her husband, Donnie, of Winchester, VA; and one half sister, Joan Brown and her husband, Felton, of Mebane, NC.  Surviving are five grandchildren, Kenneth Willoughby, Stephanie Thomas, Kelly Vann, Lindsey and Kelsey White; and four step grandchildren, Erica Slaughter, Ethan Bryant, Brad Smith and Amber Waters.  Also surviving are nine great grandchildren; Dakota and Thorne Willoughby, Brandon, Blake, Hailey and Taylor Thomas, Dalton and Dawson Vann and Jackson Winburn.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church in Aulander with the Rev. Taylor Latham officiating.  The interment will follow at the Job Cemetery in Aulander.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church.
