Lucile Burden Nichols

AHOSKIE – Lucile Burden Nichols, age 90, of the 300 block of NC Hwy 42 West, died Friday, September 3, 2010, in her home.

Mrs. Nichols was born in Northampton County on November 29, 1919, a daughter of the late Eugene and Sallie Verlie Burgess Burden.  She was a member of Earlys Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Besides her husband, William Lee Nichols, Mrs. Nichols was predeceased by a son, James William Nichols.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Melvin Ray Nichols and wife, Joyce, of Ahoskie; her daughter, Joyce Ann Edwards and husband, Danny, of Como; grandchildren, Debbie Edwards Stancil of Dudley, NC, Kathy Nichols Stertz and husband, Mike, of Barhansville, VA, Tracy L. Nichols of Ahoskie, Donna Nichols Garner and husband,  Harvey, of Sanders, KY, Ann-Marie Nichols Munford and husband, Chuck, of Ahoskie, and Mandy L. Nichols of Ahoskie; and nine great grandchildren.

A graveside celebration of life service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 at Highland Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ronald W. McSwain officiating.
