CREEKSVILLE – Visiting Ridgecroft School downed Northampton-East 9-0 in a varsity tennis match here last week.

Ridgecroft got stellar play from its top four seeds to secure the victory.

Number one seed Caroline Bowman took an 8-0 win over Alexis Shoulders while second-seeded Alex Riddick topped Michelle Perry 8-0.

Katie Futrell kept things going for Ridgecroft when she defeated third-seeded Jess Phipps by another 8-0 count and Miller Bryant blanked Kristin Martin in the battle of number four seeds.

Ridgecroft’s Roxie Daniels handled Brittany Crawford 8-4 while McKenzie Quattlebaum knocked off Brittany Mitchell 8-1 in the final singles matchup.

In doubles action, Bowman and Riddick topped Shoulders and Perry 8-0 while Futrell and Bryant scored a similar win over Martin and Phipps. In the final contest, Daniels and Quattlebaum defeated Crawford and Selina Boyd.

Ridgecroft improved to 2-0 for the season with the win while Northampton – East fell to 0-1.

Northampton-East will have a break until September 8 while Ridgecroft will be back in action today (Tuesday) when they host Greenfield School.
