David “Big” Oscar Harrell, 72, of Colerain died Monday, August 30, 2010 at Duke Hospital in Durham.

“Big” was born in Bertie County on March 25, 1938 to the late Cecil H. and Nettie Valentine Harrell.  He was a self employed farmer and member of Colerain Baptist Church.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Colerain Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Roberts officiating.  The family will receive friends from the home at 1620 NC 42, Colerain, NC.

He was married to Dianne Harrell on September 9, 1961, who survives him.  He is also survived by his daughters, Dee Harrell Price and husband, Jeff, of Wilson, NC; Donna Harrell Wilkerson and husband, Scott, of Kodiak, AK; one brother, Ollie C. Harrell of Lewisville, NC; two sisters, Kathryn H. Earley of Franklin, VA and Nancy H. Draughn of Winston-Salem, NC; and three grandchildren, David Ernest Pittman, Cason Harrell Price and Chloe Noelle Wilkerson.
