Back to school time is fast approaching.

Hertford County Department of Social Services Work First Unit and Hertford County QUOLA are teaming up once again to support families in Hertford County with the hardship of providing their children with necessary items to go back to school.

These two agencies are coming together to offer families school supplies as well as educational and financial material that will benefit families in need.

The supplies will be distributed on Friday, August 20.

The distribution, while supplies last, will begin at the QUOLA office in Murfreesboro from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and at the Ahoskie Recreation Center from 2-4 p.m. Parents are asked to bring their identification and children with them to pick up their supplies.

For the past two years with the support of the community and local businesses these two agencies were able to assist hundreds of school age children each year. This year they are pushing even harder for more donations due to these tough economic times.

They are asking for monetary donations, gift cards and/or school supplies.

The agencies will have staff members available to pick up donations, please feel free to call.

If you have any questions regarding donations, please contact Kimberly Beale/Kisha Johnson/Avis Murphy at (252) 358-7830 or Julie Everett/Joyce Ann Peoples at (252) 398-3596.
