Mrs. Helen Thomas Hoggard, age 93, of Aulander, NC died peacefully Monday, August 9,2010 at Bertie Memorial Hospital. She was born January 23, 1917 in Bertie County.
The daughter of the late Jappeth “Jeppy” Thomas and Abby Daisy Hoggard of Windsor, she was predeceased in death by a sister, Bessie Bruce Senn of Washington, NC; a brother, John Michael Thomas Sr. of Windsor; and her husbands, Ulysses Hallet Johnson of Windsor and the late Talmage “Bud” Hoggard of Aulander.
Mrs. Hoggard was a member of Connaritsa Baptist Church in Aulander, NC.
Survivors include a sister, Daisy Thomas Younce of Washington, NC; a daughter, Elizabeth Johnson Schoeb of Petersburg, VA; two grandchildren, John William Schoeb, Jr. and Abby Schoeb Binter; four great grandsons, Christopher John Michael, Brandon William Schoeb, Alexander Binter and Zackery William Binter; two devoted nieces, Cynthia Massey and Kaye Thomas; three nephews, Michael Thomas, Buddy Sumner and Earl Younce; and two great nieces and one great nephew.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 in the chapel of Massey Funeral home in Aulander, NC with the Rev. James Hester officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, NC who is handling the arrangements. Interment will follow at Aulander Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Connaritsa Baptist Church in Aulander, NC.
