WINDSOR – Bertie High School Athletic Director Marvin Rankins is inviting the public to take a look at the Falcons.

At 11 a.m. Saturday, Rankins and his teams will be on campus for Meet The Falcons, an opportunity for the public to get a close up look at changes to the school’s athletic facilities and the teams that will take the field in 2010.

“We want the Falcon faithful to come out, meet our coaches and players and get a taste of what we think they can expect in the coming year,” Rankins said. “We are excited about our upgrades in our athletic facilities, but we’re most excited about the young men and women that will be suiting up for Bertie High School.”

The event will begin with a mandatory meeting between the parents of student-athletes and Rankins. At this meeting, parents will be asked to sign sportsmanship pledges. That event is for all student-athletes and their parents who are planning to play sports in the 2010-11 academic year.

After that meeting, the Falcon football team and first-year Head Football Coach Greg Watford will take the field to allow the young and old alike to get a look at the new Falcons.

“It’s a chance for the public to come out and see the hard work these young men have been doing,” Watford said. “You’ll get to preview the upcoming season when the Falcons will be Soaring Again in 2010.”

The Falcon offensive unit will take the field and allow the crowd to see some of the plays they have been working on while the Bertie defense will provide demonstration of formations.

Bob Phillips of Phillips Photography will also be on hand to take photos. Parents can take photos in their children’s jerseys and youngsters will be allowed to take photos in the jersey of their favorite Falcon.

Food will be available during the event as well.

Other teams will also provide demonstrations.
