Post 102 bows out

The Senior League season of the Ahoskie American Legion Post 102 team has come to an end.
Kinston Post 43 defeated Ahoskie 11-0 Monday night in Kinston to win the first of a best-of-three playoff series. They then knocked off Post 102 16-1 Tuesday in Ahoskie to end the Senior League Team’s season.
In Tuesday’s contest, Post 43 opened the scoring with one run in the top of the first frame.
Ahoskie answers with its only score in the bottom of the first.
Blake Hill had an infield single and went to second on a wild pitch. He then came around to score on an Eli Spruill RBI-single to right that made it 1-all.
Kinston, however, broke the game open with six runs in the top of the fifth frame to take a 7-1 lead.
Post 43 added nine more in the top of the seventh to establish the 16-1 final.
Ahoskie had four hits during the contest led by Hill with two. Spruill and Mitchell Godwin added the other safeties.
Dakota Young started for Post 102 and pitched four and one-third innings. He suffered the loss. Braxton Sumner and Tyler Buren also pitched.
Ahoskie finished the season 0-18.
