Earlene Newbern

Earlene Flythe Newbern, born November 10, 1927, passed away June 10, 2011 in the devoted care of her husband, Donald, her daughter, Carla, and son-in-law, Darryl Whitmore, at their home in Lake Wylie, SC.
She is survived by her adoring husband, Donald, of 55 years.
Earlene was one of three daughters born to Otha and Doris Flythe. She was predeceased by her sisters, Evelyn and Mary, as well as her niece, Rhonda; two nephews, Jeff and David, and a great niece, Shelly Webb.
Earlene will be forever remembered by her beloved children, Carla and husband, Daryl, Neal and wife, Elizabeth, and treasured by her grandchildren, Todd, Marc, Emily, Jackson and Lily Newbern, and her first great grandchild, Adelia Newbern, as well as her nephew, Richard Davis and wife, Gwen, and their son, Michael, niece Donna Webb and husband, Bud, and their son, Marty, and countless friends and family members who were blessed to know her.
Earlene loved cooking for her family and friends, tirelessly caring for her flowers, and a good laugh. She had a generous soul and a boundless heart for her family. Her smile was never bigger than when she held a grandchild in her embrace. Earlene often spoke of her wish to have been a teacher. Throughout her life, and now in her legacy, she has left all who knew her lessons of pure love.
Beginning Saturday, the family will receive friends at Donald and Earlene’s home at 346 Dolittle Mill Road, Conway, NC. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 14 in the Town of Conway Cemetery with the Rev. Ed Drew presiding.
