Henry Lawrence Smith, 81, of US 17 North, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Martin General Hospital.
He was born in Bertie County on December 15, 1928 to the late James Linwood and Cora Baker Smith and was predeceased by his wife, Pandora Sanderlin Smith; two brothers, Herman and Jason Smith and a sister, Vina White.
Henry was a retired supervisor with the NC Department of Transportation and was a member of Greens Cross Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia S. Harden of Raleigh; a son, Jeff Smith of Robertsdale, Ala.; two sisters, Reta Jones of Edenton and Arlene Thompson of Winston-Salem; and five grandchildren, Jessica Moore, Rebecca, Katherine, and Victoria Harden and Lance Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday June 11, 2010 at Walker Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Friday, June 11, 2010 at Walker Funeral Home and at other times from the home.
