Helping our four-legged friends

We at the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald have made a commitment to help those organizations in our region that are attempting to find good homes for animals.
Each Thursday, we publish photos and sketch information about animals available for adoption by PAWS of Hertford County. (Those photos can be found on page 2A of today’s edition.)
On Saturday, we provide the same service to the Bertie County Humane Society as they seek to adopt pets of the region as well.
The reason we devote space to this cause is to help curb the problem of stray animals in our region. We want to help these quality organizations find a good home for the animals in the Roanoke-Chowan region.
There are people in our readership area that want a loving, adorable pet and there’s no reason they can’t find one locally that is in desperate need of a home.
We encourage everyone looking for a pet to turn to one of the local shelters. Help those pets in our region find a home.
If you’re interested in adopting or donating to local organizations that provide such a necessary service, we encourage you to use the information below.
