Bertha “Bee” Futrell Majette, 82, of Lenoir, formerly of Colerain, died Sunday, June 6, 2010 at the home of her daughter.
Born on August 26, 1927 in Hertford County, she was a member of Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Aulander.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Bettie Futrell; her husband, Raleigh Majette; sisters, Sallie Jean Newsome, Mary Lee Futrell and Betty Sue Holloman; brothers, Robert, Charlie and Jesse Kelly Futrell.
Survivors include sons, Graham Majette (Michelle) of Portsmouth, Va., Raleigh Majette Jr. (Nora) of Hampton, Va., Jerry Majette (Diana) of Newport News, Va., James Majette of Ahoskie, Anthony Majette (Brenda) of Newport News, Va., Larry Majette (Jackie) of Savannah, Ga., Howard Majette (Bwana) of Ahoskie and William Majette (Mary) of Harrington, Del.; daughters, Josey Mae Early (Tom) of Rich Square, Ethel Joyner of Lenoir, Betty Majette and Geraldine Martin (Carl), both of Bronx, NY, Janice Holley and Lois Pierce (Calvin), both of Murfreesboro, Sharon Johnston (Fernando) of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Yolanda Majette of Bronx, NY; brothers, Willie Futrell (Clarine) of Aulander and James Futrell of Woodland; sisters, Lillie Mae Horton of Washington, DC and Dorothy Futrell Harris of Aulander; 41 grandchildren and 53 great grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Aulander, with Rev. James Mercer officiating. Burial will take place at Majette Family Cemetery, Ahoskie.
Wilder’s Funeral Home Inc., Aulander, is handling the arrangements.
