AHOSKIE – The readers have spoken!

The voting process has ended for the second annual Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald/Gates County Index Reader’s Choice Award.

Local citizens who read either one or both those publications were invited to participate in the event, one that selects the “best of” in the Roanoke-Chowan area.

The reader-interactive contest began in early May. There, readers filled out an entry blank, voting for what business they thought was tops in their respective type of service. That original ballot was published for two consecutive weeks. From that point, the top two voter-getters in all categories were published on a new ballot. The leading vote-getter in those head-to-head battles was crowned as the Reader’s Choice.
