Patricia White Cherry died peacefully in her home, surrounded by family, on May 22, 2010, after a long battle with pulmonary disease.
She was married to Thomas L. Cherry for fifty-five years and left to remember her constant love are her four children: Susan Cherry Keel and husband, Ernie, of Ahoskie, Anne Cherry Price and husband, Hal, of Clinton, Gail Cherry Richardson and husband, Jack, of Wilmington, and Thomas Carlton Cherry of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. “Mimi” was adored by her seven grandchildren: Braxton, Ian, and Logan Kinlaw, Walt and Landis Joyner and Leslie and Paul Richardson.
She was born on May 30, 1932 in Sparta, North Carolina to the late P.S. and Nora Anderson White. She was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy White Brake. She was a graduate of Atlantic Christian College with a degree in primary education. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. After growing up in Swansboro and Leggett, North Carolina, Patricia spent her married life in Ahoskie. She was a member of First Baptist Church since 1958 and was a member of the Hannah Brown Sunday School Class.
Showing love and concern for her family and friends, her life will be remembered for her good nature, winning smile, and words of wisdom.
A Memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Ahoskie on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 11:00 AM.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at the Garrett-Jones Funeral Home in Ahoskie and at other times at the home of Thomas L. Cherry.
