AHOSKIE – And down the stretch they come!

Harness racing action returns to the Atlantic District Fairgrounds (Holloman Avenue, Ahoskie) on Saturday, May 29.

Post time is 2 p.m. and general admission is $2 per person.

The historic track is the only one of its kind in North Carolina. Coupled with the fact that two other famed harness racing tracks on the Eastern Seaboard are currently closed for repairs, that means local racing officials are expecting a large field of competitors from several states.

“We have scheduled an afternoon of fun and excitement for the whole family,” said legendary horse trainer Charlie Williams. “We look forward to you coming out and sharing your excitement with our competitors as they compete for prizes.”

Interested horsemen can contact Williams at 757-635-9053. He needs to know immediately of the number of horse stalls needed by the competitors.

Williams said food will be available for the horsemen and their families.
