Mark Eric Baggett Jr., age 16, of Aulander, and formerly of Wilmington, died Friday, April 9, 2010, in a motor vehicle accident.
Eric was born March 3, 1994 in Wilmington. He was a student at Bethel Assembly Christian Academy in Askewville and loved to play baseball and basketball. Eric loved sports, especially baseball and was a great catcher, following the footsteps of his father Mark.
He loved his Christian school, his friends and his teachers, as well as Pastor Bobby “Papa” at Living Word in Leland and all the members. He loved life and never met a stranger. Eric always, without effort, displayed love, kindness and compassion to small children and animals, as well as the elderly and sick.
Eric’s charm and great personality assisted him as a young child to become Little Mr. Wilmington and Mr. Brunswick County Christmas. Though loved by the multitudes for his mischievous grin and kindness, all who knew him felt his devotion to his parents and God. Eric never hesitated showing love. His favorite saying “show me some love mama”, was demonstrated in front of friends and family.
Eric will be missed every single day we breathe, yet we know he will be waiting for all of us in heaven as he watches Carolina win.
Survivors include his parents, Mark Eric Baggett Sr. and Debra Price Baggett; his grandfathers, Paul R. Price of Leland and Jesse Baggett of Holden Beach; his aunts and uncles, Doria Walker, Douglas Price, Lee Price, Aggie Baggett; and his cousins, Christina Mayhew, Jessie Beckworth, Jennifer Cooper, Keith Price, Alex Baggett and Daniel Baggett.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Askewville Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Roy O. Denton, the Rev. Chris Howerton, the Rev. Webb Haggard and Michael Hill officiating.
A second service was held Monday, April 12, 2010 at Living Word Full Gospel Fellowship Church with the Rev. Bobby Wilson officiating.
