Jasper Lewis Harmon, 48, of Denbigh Boulevard, Newport News, Va. and formerly of Hexalena died Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, Va.
Born in Bertie County, he last worked as a groundskeeper for City Line in Virginia and a member of Evening Light Church of God in Christ Jesus, Windsor.
Survivors include his wife, Francisa A. Harmon of the home;
four stepchildren; sisters, Mary E. Moore of Freeport, NY, Jonnie Mae Taylor of Ahoskie, Maggie Maxine Greenfield of Newport News, Va. and Jean Meyers of Brooklyn, NY; brothers, Vernon Lee Askew of Philadelphia, Pa., Harry Harmon of Newport News, Va., Harrison Ray Harmon of Aulander and Lemuel Wendell Harmon of Newport News, Va. and five grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, April 8 at Wilder’s Funeral Home Chapel in Rich Square with Overseer Luther Cherry officiating. Burial will take place at the Mitchell Family Cemetery on Hexalena Road in Ahoskie.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7 at Wilder’s Funeral Home Chapel in Aulander.
