AHOSKIE — In a matter of minutes, 8,000 eggs were discovered.

That’s how long it took for hundreds of children to search through an area located at the Ahoskie Creek Recreational Complex on Saturday where the Town of Ahoskie hosted its third annual Easter Egg Hunt.

With three areas roped off for different ages groups (0-3, 4-7 and 8-12; see photos of the winners on page 8A), the children made a beeline for the brightly colored orbs hidden in the green grass as they filled their baskets with the sweet treats.

“That’s what it’s all about,” said Ahoskie Mayor Linda Blackburn as she motioned in the direction of the children gathered at their respective starting lines.

The children were also greeted by the Easter Bunny, some pausing to give the furry creature a big hugs.

Town officials also provided “jump houses” for the children to enjoy as well as feed the hungry crowd, adults included, over 500 hot dogs along with chips and soft drinks.
