DuPont Davis

DuPont L. Davis, 63, of 600 Snipes St., went home to our Lord and Savior on March 25, 2010 at Roanoke Chowan Hospital.
He was born in St. John, N.C. to the late Jacobia and Blannie Davis.
He graduated from R. L. Vann High School and attended Chowan College. He was the owner/operator of Davis Burial Vault Company, a dedicated Hertford County Commissioner, and member of several state and local organizations.
He is survived by his wife, Earline Powell Davis; two sons, Derrick Davis (Keisha) of Reidsville, NC and Dexter Davis of Hackensack, NJ; two daughters, Donica Thompson (Billy) of Largo, MD and Dedria Davis-King (Chris) of Kernersville, NC; seven grandchildren, Devin and Dasha Davis, Bryce and Bailey Thompson, and Shaniah, Christian and Camryn King; four sisters, Joyce Smith, Sylvia Bazemore (Roosevelt) and Hilda Durham (Charles), all of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Sherry Ransome (Dwight) of Windsor, NC and one sister who preceded him in death, Shirley James of Silver Springs, MD; three brothers, Oswald Davis (Essie) of Winton, NC, John Davis (Vivian) of Ahoskie, NC and Dwight Davis of Aulander, NC.; a devoted mother-in-law, Millie Powell of Murfreesboro, NC and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
A public viewing will be held on Sunday, March 28 at Reynolds Funeral Home in Ahoskie from 4-7pm. The funeral service will be held Monday, March 29 at the New Ahoskie Baptist Church. Viewing will begin at noon for family and friends followed by a 1:00 pm home going service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the DuPont Davis Scholarship Fund at Roanoke-Chowan Community College.
