Lady Rams roll past TCCS

WASHINGTON – Ridgecroft School sent Terra Ceia Christian to their first softball loss of 2010 here Tuesday.

The Lady Rams used a three-hit performance from senior Emily Cooke to down the Lady Knights 11-5.

Ridgecroft began their scoring in the first inning thanks to a leadoff triple by Cooke. She was followed by a run-scoring single from Tayler Smith and a base hit by Mary Kate Morris as the Lady Rams took a 2-0 lead.

Two more runs were added by the visitors in the top of the third inning. Sara Hackney singled, Smith tripled and Morris added an RBI-groundout to give the Lady Rams a 4-0 edge.

Terra Ceia rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth frame when they had four runs cross the plate.

Ridgecroft, however, came back with four marks of their own in the top of the fifth inning.

Cooke led off the frame with a solo homerun and was followed by a double from Hackney, a single by Morris, an RBI-groundout by Lauren Colson and a single by Jacob as they surged ahead 8-4.

The Lady Rams sent three more across the plate in the top of the seventh stanza.

Morris led off the inning with a double before Jacob delivered an RBI single. Erin Cooke drew a walk before Taylor McKeel singled home Jacob. Erin Cooke then scored on Emily Cooke’s double that made it 11-4.

Terra Ceia managed one more run in the bottom of the seventh, but the game ended with the Rams taking the victory.

The win boosted Ridgecroft to 2-1
