George Cherry Sr., 76, of Piney Woods Road, Lewiston, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at his residence.
Born in Bertie County, he was an Elder and Founder of Mt. Joy Holiness Church in Lewiston and a self-employed painter.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Doyle Cherry of the home; two sons, George Cherry Jr. and JoAllen Cherry of the home; four daughters, Sarah Pearl Cherry, Jacqueline Rachel Cherry, Ruth Michelle Cherry, all of the home, and Jessica Holmes of Ahoskie; three brothers, Simon Cherry, Raleigh Cherry and Frank Cherry, all of Lewiston; and two sisters, Leora Hill of Lewiston and Virginia Cherry McRae of New York.
A private graveside service was held on Friday, March 19 at Mt. Joy Holiness Church Cemetery in Lewiston.
Wilder’s Funeral Home Inc., Aulander, handled the arrangements.
