Charlie W. Powell II of Murfreesboro died Monday March 8, 2010 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie.
Survivors include his wife, Millie Powell of Murfreesboro; seven daughters, Martha Taylor and Patricia Shearn, both of Murfreesboro, Earline Davis of Ahoskie, Juanita Anfinson of Camarillo, Calif., Geneva Boswell of Laurel Md., Theresa Ball, Picayune and Ophelia Wright of Reidsville; a son, Charlie Powell III of Smithfield, Va.; three sisters, Mildred Cooper and Sarah Allen, both of Murfreesboro, and Lula Bussy of Atlanta, Ga.; three brothers, Cleveland Powell and Joe Powell, both of Murfreesboro, and Linwood Powell of Boston, Mass.; 48 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild.
A funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 12 at New Haven Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, with the Rev. Lloyd Gatling officiating. Burial will take place at Carver Park Cemetery in Murfreesboro.
A wake will be held from 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 11 at Reynolds Funeral Home Chapel, Ahoskie.
