Mrs. Rosalie Burkette Dixon, age 99, of Grifton and a native of Bertie County died Thursday, February 18, 2010.
Mrs. Dixon was born February 1, 1919 in Bertie County. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter Cofield Dixon, and her sons, Robert M. Dixon Sr. and Linwood Burkette Dixon. She was a member of Kelford Baptist Church.
She is survived by her grandson, Robert M. Dixon Jr. and his wife, Julia, of Grifton; her granddaughter, Patricia Dixon of Greenville; two great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Kaasa of Durham and Carla Gray and her husband, Mark, of Grifton; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Dixon; two great-grandchildren, Trevor Gray and Noah Kaasa; and her half-brother, James “Jay Bird” Bracy of Aulander.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Kelford Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Spivey officiating. Burial followed at Roxobel-Kelford Cemetery.
