Mildred Mitchell Rountree, 89, formerly of Hobbsville died Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Brian Care Center of Hertford.
Born in Gates County, she had worked with the Department of Defense as a crytographic clerk and the Gates County School System as a teaching assistant. Rountree was a graduate of East Carolina Teacher’s College and a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Phyllis Nixon of Winterville and Anna Wrae Smith and Louise Ward, both of Hertford; a son, James Ralph Rountree of Hobbsville; a sister, Pauline Black of Butler, Pa.; a brother, William P. Mitchell of Gatesville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 29 at Sandy Cross Baptist Church by Rev. Phil Grasty. A private burial took place in the family cemetery.
